Local man takes to clear blue skies

The movie ‘Fly Away Home’ left an impact on a local resident who has spent the last year and a half literally ‘taking to the skies’. Ken Kennedy of the Jenkins Community began flying in November of 2012 and has accumulated more than 72 hours of flying time.
“I watched a movie called ‘Fly Away Home’ where a little girl connected with the wild geese and in the movie she and her dad were flying what are called ultra lights,” Mr. Kennedy said. “I thought I’d love to do that, and I began looking for one on the internet. In the search, I ran across powered parachutes. It is much a safer than an ultra light; it is designed so you can’t stall it. There is very little that can go wrong, and if the motor dies,you float down like you would on a regular airplane. They weigh very little and they fly about 30 miles per hour.
