Pancake Supper 
The Daingerfield Lions Club will serve a pancake supper at South Elementary cafeteria before the Daingerfield Tiger football game on Sept.19. Serving will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and takeouts will be available. The event was rescheduled from Aug. 29. Tickets are available at the door.
 
GED Classes 
A free GED class is being offered at Hughes Springs Area Public Library Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. For more information, call the Hughes Springs Library, Shelly at 903-824-5334, or Bowie Cass Adult Learning Center at 903-793-5632 Woman’s Day Program The Pine Bluff Baptist Church located on Highway 250 between Marietta and Hughes Springs will host its annual Women’s Day Program on Sept. 14, at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. J.M. Brooks, pastor of Independence Hope and Springhill Baptist church in Pittsburg will be the special guest. The public is invited.
 
Homecoming 
The annual Floyd Hill Homecoming will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Red Hill Community Center at Highway 8 and Farm-to-Market Road 995. The devotional begins at 11:30 a.m. with covered dish luncheon to follow. For further information, contact Donna Ayers at grammy@hughes.net or 903-796-3400.
 
Voter Registration 
As the Nov. 4, General Election approaches in Texas, Becky Watson, Cass County Tax Assessor-Collector,  Voter Registrar, would like to remind you thatthe last day to register to vote is Oct. 6. If a change of residence is needed, the voter must notify the voter registrar by Oct. 6. Voter registration applications may be picked up at the city hall office in Hughes Springs or the Cass County tax office in  Linden. You must be 17 years and 10 months of age orolder to register to vote. When voting, citizens must present some form of photo ID. Fish Fry
Hughes Springs Masonic Lodge #671 will host its third annual fish fry, on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Masonic Lodge on E. First Street beginning at 11 a.m. - till all the fish is gone.
 
Traylor High Alumni
The Traylor High Alumni will be sponsoring a soul train dance (prom) on Sept. 27, from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Traylor Community Building located in Hughes Springs, featuring DJ Donald Butler from Pittsburg. Morris County 4-H
The Morris County Extension Office would like to welcome Morris County youth join the 4-H program. The annual 4-H membership drive for membership is Sept. 29, at the Morris County Annex at 6 p.m. The Texas 4-H program has more than 550,000 youth involved in various activities and events such as livestock, wildlife, photography, public speaking, fashion, cooking and much more. The Morris County 4-H meets monthly with fun activities and to discuss county, district, and state level contests. The club has a multi-county camp here every summer in July. Master Gardeners 
The Morris County Extension Office, along with The Piney Woods Master Gardeners will hold the 2014 Master Garden class at the Morris County Annex on Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. This is a 50-hour course that is spread out through early November. The registration fee for the class covers the cost of the book andrelated material given out during the class. The class covers soil preparation, fertilization, cuttings, seeding, disease, pest, landscaping, lawn care and much more. If you have questions, call the Extension Office at 903-645-2222.
