Sustainable Forestry Initiative Program to be held Sept. 26

The East Texas Timberland Owners’ Association (ETTOA), the Texas Forest Service (TFS) and the Texas Forestry Association (TFA) invite all timber landowners to attend a Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program on Friday, Sept. 26, at the Kellyville Community Center, 130 Kelly Park Road in Jefferson. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with presentations starting at 9 a.m., and the program should conclude around 2:30 p.m. During the workshop, James Edelen will speak on the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Program; Carl Herberg will discuss Land Values in East Texas; Ron Hufford from the Texas Forestry Association will provide a Legislative Update that affects forest landowners; Jim Caldwell, a TFS Theft Investigator, will talk about Timber Theft; and Todd Thomas from the Texas Forest Service will speak on Forestry Best Management Practices. Four (4) hours CEU’s for Texas Pro Loggers. Trico Lumber Company in Hughes Springs will donate a chain saw and Domtar Corporation’s Ashdown Mill will donate a game camera as door prizes for this meeting. Other door prizes will also be available for the lucky attendees.
