On Oct.4 at 8 p.m., six 10-minute plays written by Hollins Playwright’s Lab graduate students will be produced by theatres across the country. This year’s festival will feature work from 2001 Daingerfield High School graduate Shane Strawbridge. His play, “I’ll Take Care of You” was one of six plays chosen from the record-breaking number of submissions to this year’s festival. Other playwrights represented are Nicole B. Adkins, Laura King, Rebecca Osborne, Jeri Weiss, and R.S. Young. Scripts this year were specifically written for young actors/audiences and are sure to be a treat for the whole family.

The event is being hosted at UGF Theatre in Montana, Overland High Drama Company in Colorado, and NHS Theater Company in California, who will be collaborating with the AGHS Theater Company this year.

Shane Strawbridge, playwright: “The play is about a seven-year old boy named Zachary who wants a toy truck for his birthday. When his parents give him a different surprise, he has to learn that more than just toys need to be taken care of. It’s a real honor for me to have had a play selected for this year’s festival. I am pretty proud of this work and hope it will have a life beyond the festival.”
