OCHS Band receives superior rating in contest

The Ore City Rebel High School Band performed in competition at the Region 4 UIL Marching Band Contest in Mt. Pleasant on Oct. 14. The Band received a first division which is a Superior rating from the judging panel. The Ore City Band performed with 55 members that day and played the following music: The Rebel Fanfare, Big Four March, Benton Hall March, Torch of Liberty, and Call to Victory March. The Ore City High School Band performs in the style of the Military Marching Bands and very proud to keep that tradition. Last year the Ore City Band earned the Sweepstakes title from all contests. The current 2014 Band is working for that same title this school year. Drum Major is Breanna Keen, majorette sponsor is Autumn Pena, and Band Directors are Anthony Anderson and asst. director Mike Cole. Mr. Anderson and Mr. Cole are very proud of their students and their accomplishments. High School Principal is Nathan Heflin, Middle School Principal is Selenia Cato and Superintendant of Ore City is Lynn Heflin. The Ore City Band is comprised of 8th grade through 12th grade students.
