GOP paints Morris County red

As the GOP captured control of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in last week's Nov. 4 mid-term elections, the Morris County GOP won three contested county races. 
Less than half of Morris County's registered voters cast their ballots last week. According to information released from the Morris County Clerk's Office, there were a total of 8,533 registered voters for the county, and only 3,159 cast ballots. 
Scott Sartain (R), took the lead in early voting for Morris County Clerk against Vicki Taylor (D) 676-607. Unofficial results from the Nov. 4 election put Sartain over Taylor 1,622-1,493. 
In the race for County Commissioner of Precinct 4, Todd Freeman (R) took the most votes with 496 to Ricky Tigert's (D) 418. 
Voting results for Justice of the Peace of Precinct 2 places Jennifer T. Easley (R) in the pocket with a total of 1,359 votes to Incumbent Frank Sisk's 1,109 votes. 
In the election there were 1,002 straight party Republican votes. The Democrats fell behind with only 711 straight party votes.
