The Hughes Springs Independent School District Board of Trustees met last week, where they approved a very special item on their agenda.
The board approved naming the school's bus lane after LaVerne Williams. Williams had been a bus driver for Hughes Springs ISD since 1975. For 39 years she continued driving her bus route.  According to HSISD Superintendent Rick Ogden, Williams had all of the sudden taken to illness. She passed away Oct. 23 leaving behind three generations of memories with the school district. Mrs. Williams was born on Aug. 21, 1938 in Cass County.
"She not only drove a bus for this school district for almost 40 years, she also did a lot of extras like selling tickets at football games," Ogden said. "She had a very positive impact on people."
