The City of Hughes Springs' annual Santa's Secrets and Silver Angels tree was put up last week, decorated with the names of seniors and children in Hughes Springs that are in need this holiday season.
The Angel Tree project was started by the city well over 20 years ago, and it's a tradition that just keeps on giving.
According to one of the city's office secretaries, Kim Laigle, Hughes Springs ISD, as well as The Springs and Theron Grainger Nursing Homes, send in names of students and residents, who would not have a gift otherwise during Christmas.
"It is a good thing in our community," Laigle said, "because everyone pulls together to make sure the kids and seniors have a good Christmas."
Christmas gifts are due back wrapped to city hall on Dec. 12, with the child's number on them.
