Technology advanced and improved in June at the Morris County Jail according to Sheriff Jack Martin. The department added seven new cameras to the sheriff's department and to the courthouse annex. Dispatch also received two monitors for clearer visibility. 
With the love of tennis and the community, Audrey Byerly, a high school student at Avinger, gave back to her school and community by gathering enough grants, donations and pledges to resurface the school tennis courts, which cost about $11,600 to improve. 
Rashad Lee, 31, of Daingerfield was sentenced to 40 years in prison as he was found guilty of delivery of a controlled substance by a Morris County Jury on June 18. 
The Daingerfield City Council also revealed plans for streets to be resurfaced in Daingerfield. 
In July, The Steel Country Bee reported the ongoing investigation of shooting deaths that occurred in Cass County on June 27 on County Road 2747 near Marietta. Damon Robinson, 32, along with a 12-year old were found deceased that day. 
Jenny's Hope in Hughes Springs opens for business, not only serving others with food, but with gospel food as well. The business was named after Jenny McKinney, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and was healed after  members of First Baptist Church kept her in their prayers. 
Deandra Hanson was selected by the Texas Girls Coaches Association as an All-Star to ne a member of the All-Star Track Team for the 2014 season. 
Daingerfield Lady Tigers Deandra Hanson, Janzelle Smith and Adrianna Hill were named to the All-State Academic Track Team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
A contract renewal with the City of Hughes Springs and Waste Management brought a 7 percent increase to to garbage rates for customers. 
The Hughes Springs Clinic planned an open house for July 31, which was formerly owned by Good Shepherd Medical Center. The clinic continued offering services after PhyNet Inc. completed the purchase of Hughes Springs Clinic on June 8. 
A 2014 graduating senior and valedictorian for Daingerfield High School, Sam Fowler, captured the East Texas Student Athletic Trainer of the Year award. 
In a July city council meeting, Lone Star Mayor Karl Stoermer released the name of a new business that would be coming to Lone Star; a Walmart Express. 
Early payoff on a certificate of obligation for the City of Daingerfield was tabled for further discussion at  a July council meeting.
Finishing touches were nearly completed  in construction and renovation projects at Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD. In a July meeting, the DLSISD Board of Trustees met, where Superintendent Sandra Quarles updated the board on the $5.4 million bond, which was approved by voters at the polls. 
Storms towards the end of July brought damage. Thunder, lighting and strong winds tore through the area leaving several residents without power and even some fallen trees.
