Baker’s Cleaners bids goodbye

Baker’s Cleaners in Daingerfield closed its doors last week, after more than 25 years of serving the area. The Baker family bought the cleaners in Gilmer in 1988 and purchased the plant in Daingerfield in August 1989. The first three years, the Daingerfield store was a full operational plant. However, according to owner Bobby Baker, the age ofthe equipment made it more economical to process all of the clothes at the Gilmer location and make Daingerfield a drop store in June 1992. In 1994, after marrying his wife, Martha, Daingerfield became the couples home community. “Over the years it has been a pleasure and privilege to serve thousands of customers from not only Daingerfield, but surrounding communities as well,” Mr. Baker said.
