Fire fighters work to save church

Volunteer fire fighters fought the blaze that claimed the majority of Hughes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church early Friday morning.
The investigation continues for the cause, but arson is not expected according to Hughes Springs Chief of Police Randy Kennedy. The 103-year-old church was built in 1912 and was in the process of being remodeled. According to Chief Kennedy the fire claimed the sanctuary; yet, fire fighters were able to save the kitchen area.
