Immediate opening for local editor/reporter

The publisher of The Pittsburg Gazette and the Steel Country Bee, both award winning newspapers, is seeking an experienced editor/reporter to oversee the news operation for both print and digital editions. The successful candidate, in addition to guiding the newsroom, will also cover general assignments and watchdog stories. 

 

   JOB REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate would have at least three years experience as a newspaper reporter. Experience as a news editor is preferred. Excellent writing, reporting and editing skills are a must. The right candidate will have a keen sense for news and will be able to work closely with our team to produce compelling news stories. The candidate should also be skillful in writing for the Internet and posting stories online and on social media. The successful candidate will manage news assignments, write compelling news stories, assist in layout and design of the newspaper and facilitate enhancing the newspaper’s digital content on the Web and social media.
