Hughes Springs basketball

It was a tough week for Mustang and Lady Mustang basketball. Both varsity teams went 0-2 losing to Mt. Vermont and Daingerfield respectively. Tuesday saw Mt. Vernon make quick work of the Lady Mustangs by a score of 59-22, with Katelyn Roth and Destiny Gonzales leading the way with 6 and 7 points. Breanne Gunn and Lakendria Simmons hit the glass for the Lady Mustangs leading in rebound totals with 5 and 6 in the loss. Friday was a nail biter with the Lady Tigers from Daingerfield traveling to Hughes Springs for a back yard rival contest. The game was tight throughout and was not settled until the final buzzer. Daingerfield was up by as many as ten points late, but Lady Mustangs made a furious comeback and fell just short losing 54-53.
