Are we losing the war on Religion?
I t’s no secret that there is and has been a war against religion in this country for several decades. What is disheartening is the fact that I believe we are losing that war. It seems that we see a story nearly every week where a school, or a government entity, or a civic group is being told they must take down or remove their monument or religious display or banner. And 9 times out of a 10 it always seems to be because one person didn’t like it or was uncomfortable with it. Many times it’s not even someone from the community or school where the display is located. I am not sure why the 1st amendment is so hard for people to grasp. If you simply read what it says there shouldn’t be any questions. Its says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ”. Making a law is defined as drafting and passing legislation into law. Displaying a Ten Commandments plaque is not “making a law”. If school cheerleaders wish to have a bible verse on a rally banner, that is not “making a law”.
