Varsity Basketball for Hughes Springs has reached a fever pitch. This late in the year, teams are vying for playoff position and trying to keep players healthy from the physical nature of the sport. With few games remaining and each game vital to the playoff hunt. Both the Lady Mustang and Mustang teams found themselves in a slobber knocker literally and figuratively Friday night, and by all accounts Hughes Springs came away the clear winner.
The Lady Mustangs won a hard fought ball game and were able to punch their ticket to the post-season. Meanwhile, the Mustangs, for the time being played playoff spoiler. Both teams pulled out gritty wins and served notice, Hughes Springs has heart and moxy, and will not back down from a challenge. Friday night dramatics in Omaha are usually reserved for football, but not last Friday. The Lady Mustangs came to town needing a win to get into the playoffs.
