HUGHES SPRINGS—Students and staff at Hughes Springs High School were able to literally give of themselves on Feb. 12. The high school’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) club, in conjunction with Carter Blood Care, hosted a blood drive on Feb. 12. The blood drive was held in the foyer next to the high school gym, 701 N. Russell, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The blood drive was open to students and staff as well as the community at large.
Students who participate in the drive with have some extra decoration at graduation. The Red Cord Honors program awards students who have made the choice to participate in the life-saving act of blood donation by giving at least twice during their senior year. Donations can be made at either a Carter BloodCare blood drive or donor center.
