Local cemetery honors Civil War veterans

Eleven year old Rebekah Nelson, of Atlanta, assisted with a Civil War Veterans dedication at Shelton-Rankin Cemetery. Rebekah’s great-great-great grandfather was one of the veteran’s honored.

After several attempts, the Shelton-Rankin Cemetery has finally dedicated the Civil War veteran monuments. Eight of the Civil War veterans buried there were honored on April 25. The ceremony featured Civil War color guard, flags, prayers, a rifle salute, and words of remembrance.
