DYAS
Carolyn Dyas, a resident of Daingerfield, Texas died on October 2, at Titus Memorial Hospital after a long
battle with heart disease.
Born on October 25, 1932 in Cason, Texas, Carolyn was the oldest child of Thomas and Beatrice Minter.
Thomas Minter was a teacher and principal in the Daingerfield School District and Carolyn followed in
her father’s steps in the field of education. Carolyn attended Stephen F Austin State University in
Nacogdoches, and earned degrees in special education, speech therapy and counseling. She worked in
both the Daingerfield and Mt. Pleasant School districts in those fields. Carolyn was a life time member
of the Cason Baptist Church and was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Association and
the P.E.O. of Daingerfield.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by sons Gary Dyas of
Daingerfield and Troy Dyas of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, grandchildren Joshua Dyas and Kayle----- of
Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, sisters Martha Minter of Mt. Pleasant and Nancy Bolton of Norwalk, Ct, sister-inlaw
Ruth Minter of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn loved her work with children and her community activities. She also loved to travel, read and
visit with friends and family. Vacations with her siblings and their families are cherished family memories.
The memorial service was held at Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield on Tuesday, October 6
at 2 p.m., with Bro. Scott Darby officiating.
