The Constitution wasn't Written on an Etch A Sketch

A Patriot's Opinion By Jim Snyder

It has always amazed me how many people think the United States constitution should be rewritten or is outdated. You hear many liberals say that the constitution in their opinion is a living breathing document. That means they think it should be able to be changed whenever they don’t agree with what it says. So many politicians these days actually think they are smarter than the men who drew up the original constitution documents. But I have news for them, they aren’t. The founders of this country were far wiser than any of the tin horn, money grubbing, butt kissers of the modern two party system. The founding fathers vision for the beginning of this country and the drafting of the constitution were more than just a temporary document. They knew what future politicians would try to do and they crafted the constitution with safeguards to prevent tyrannical individuals from violating the people’s rights. But that didn’t stop them from trying. Many challenges to the writings of the constitution have been made over the years and the old document did a fairly good job of defeating them. But more recently, say in the last 40 years, the constitution has faced a far worse enemy to its writings. And the newest enemy to the old gal are politicians, judges, and their lawyers who simply ignore what it says and do what they think is better for the masses. They simply interpret what they “think” it says and try and make the rest of us follow their version of the law. Actually changing the constitution is fairly difficult. Article V says in order to change it requires a two thirds majority in both houses of congress and the senate or by a constitutional convention of two thirds of the states. But since that is so hard to get done the modern day politicians simply ignore article V and just use unlawful acts such as executive orders to just make their own laws. Did you know that an executive order is not an enforceable document? Of course the so called Supreme Court is just as guilty as any of the other Washington cronies. The SCOTUS is supposed to interpret the constitution or the law, and make rulings as to their validity. But instead they have taken it upon themselves to make laws as well. Of course this is not allowed by the constitution but that doesn’t stop them. And we as a nation have become numb to this travesty and we simply go along with the program.
