Lady Tigers drop two to district opponents

On Jan. 12, the
Daingerfield Lady Tigers
traveled to Chapel Hill,
where they took on the
Lady Red Devils. Both the
junior varsity and varsity
squads fell to the Lady
Devils.
The junior varsity took
the floor, and could muster
very little offense against
the Devils before the final
buzzer signaled the end.
The final score was 9 to 44
in favor of Chapel Hill.
Monorra Sok scored three
points for the Tigers, and
also added three rebounds,
two steals, and an assist.
Jasmine Tatum scored six
points for the Tigers, and
added three steals, two
rebounds. Brianna Abron
grabbed ten rebounds for
the Lady Tigers, who
dropped to 0-2 in district
16AAA play.
Although the varsity
squad was able to put up
more points, they could not
hold a dominate Red Devil
team down, and fell, 23-102.
Nekoda Coleman led the
Tigers with 11 points, four
rebounds, five steals and
two assists. Meme Black was
held to nine points in the
contest, but added five
rebounds and three steals.
Dee Hall and Kahleyia
Johnson added the final
three points for the Tigers,
as well as contributing an
additional 8 rebounds and
five steals between the two
of them.
On Friday, Daingerfield
welcomed the Purple Tigers
from Mount Vernon to
town, in a game that would
end with Mount Vernon on
top, 78 to 37. Black scored
18 points to go along with
five steals, and Coleman
added 16 points, while
grabbing two rebounds. Dee
Hall also contributed three
points and two rebounds in
the losing effort.
The two losses dropped
the Daingerfield Lady
Tigers to 1-5 in district play.
They will welcome the
Hughes Springs Lady
Mustangs to town on
Friday, Jan. 22 to begin the
second round of district
play.
