Barber lifts her way to state

Daingerfield power lifter Chablis Barber competed in the Class 3 Region 3 Regional Powerlifting Meet on March 3 in Troup. Barber not only won her weight class, but was also named “Outstanding Lifter” of the meet.

Barber set Meet Records in Squat (345 pounds), Dead Lift (360 pounds), and total weight at 850 pounds. Jana McGoldrick, one of Barber’s former coaches, said “Chablis Barber is a very hard working young lady and is passionate about her sport of powerlifting. She has battled through a lot in her young life and I am very proud of her and all she has been able to accomplish.”

Barber will compete in the State Powerlifting Meet in Corpus Christi in two weeks, and is coached by Stephen Coleman.
