There is no "Free Ride" in America

A Patriots Opinion

By Jim Snyder

There seems to be a large political movement in this country of young people who are jumping on the bandwagon of politicians like Bernie Sanders and demanding free stuff. They want free college, free healthcare, free rent, free food, free gas, free phones, you name it. They basically want everything free. Well, here’s a news flash for people of all ages: there is nothing free. The government, despite its best intentions, cannot give one person something without first taking it from someone else. Keep in mind that the federal government manufactures nothing. They have no product to sell to make money. So their sole source of income is revenue collected from taxpayers from taxes, fees, and penalties.

So, when someone says they are getting free college tuition, or free healthcare, it’s a myth. Their tuition or healthcare is being paid out of the funds that the government took from you and me. My generation was raised to believe that you worked hard and gave an honest day’s work for and honest day’s pay. I doubt many young people today have ever heard that term before. The mentality of the 21st century that has been preached from Washington D.C. is that you are entitled to all of these benefits. And this propaganda has worked. There are folks who know how to game the system. There are many stories of people who have no job, do not work, and draw more than $40,000 a year in benefits from multiple government agencies. And these are not isolated incidents. There are millions of people who are doing this right now.

And it’s not bad enough that we have so many of our own citizens milking the system, but we have our government intentionally transporting foreign refugees and illegals into the country and educating them on how to apply for “free stuff,” compliments of the American taxpayer. I just heard a story on a Dallas radio station where the Obama administration is flying Syrian refugees into many of the 300 sanctuary cities in the United States during the nighttime and dumping them with no notification to the local government or citizens. If I recall correctly we were told back in December that it would take up to 2 years to properly vet these refugees before they would be allowed into the U.S. Gee, I guess that was a lie also. They are here and are being given assistance as we speak. Just what we needed: more folks asking for more free stuff.

Food stamp usage in this country is at record levels. Nearly 48 million people are on food stamps, up from 32 million in 2008. You remember how former presidential candidate Mitt Romney was basically destroyed for saying the famous 47% of the country wouldn’t vote for him because they were getting government assistance and would vote for the man who would keep it coming (Barack Obama). Well guess what? That number has since risen. The figure now is about 49.2% of the population is getting some form of government assistance, and folks will still vote for whomever will promise to keep the gravy train coming. These types of numbers are unsustainable. We cannot simply keep giving things away to people who do not earn them or have no skin in the game. The old saying that “the problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people’s money,” is true.

There are 94 million people who are not participating in the workforce right now. That my friends is 30% of the entire population of this country. So how can the government say with a straight face that the unemployment rate is 4.9%? That’s crazy talk, and it’s a lie. They are making these numbers up. Why do we have so many people just willing to go along with what they are told and believe it as truth?

Government is in the business of manipulating the masses and so far we are dumb enough to allow it to continue. This house of cards will come crashing down someday and I hope I am not around to see it happen. Especially since many of us knew it was coming.
