Tiger tennis fairs well in quad match

Daingerfield High School hosted a tennis meet on March 28. On what turned out to be a beautiful day for tennis, there were four schools represented at the match: Daingerfield, Paul Pewitt, Chapel Hill, and Linden- Kildare.

The boy’s doubles team of Nic Ayers and Tucker Bass was once again the team to beat. Ayers and Bass defeated the Pewitt teams of T. Rozell and S. Martinez, 8-5; and C. McRight and D. Lucas, 8-2. Ayers and Bass also defeated the team of J. Sanchez and E. Gonzales from Chapel Hill, 8-5.

In boy’s singles, Dustin Cofer lost to P. Byrant of Pewitt, 2-8, before defeating J. Bautista, also of Pewitt, 8-0.

Twins Bayley Sullivan and Kallye Sullivan lost to S. Green/A. Brown of Linden, 0-8; and lost to K. Traylor/B. Lawings of Pewitt, 4-8. Lady Tiger Bri Coker defeated K. Traylor, of Pewitt, 8-2before losing to E. Hernandez of Chapel Hill, 1-8.

In their first ever match together, the mixed doubles team of Derek Strickland and Madison Cox defeated J. Zavala/S. Sartain from Pewitt, 8-7, 7- 5.

Next up for Daingerfield Tennis will be the District 16AAA meet on Saturday, April 9 and Monday, April 11 at Hughes Springs.
