April 16 Wildflower Trails 5k Run and Walk
The 26 Annual Wildflower Trails 5K will be held on April 16. Registration will be from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m., and the race will begin at 8:30 a.m. The event will begin at the City Park Pavilion, located beside City Hall. Registration forms can be picked up at City Hall, or online at www.hughesspringstxusa.com. For more information, call 903-639-7519.
April 16 Hymn Fest
The Daingerfield Church of Christ will once again present Hymn Fest on April 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This will be a time of old-fashioned congregational singing with experienced song leaders. There will refreshments served at the conclusion of the singing.
April 17 104 Church Anniversary
Hughes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate their 104 Church Anniversary on April 17 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Anthony Castleberry and New Light Baptist Church in Linden will be their special guests. Services will be held at the Traylor Community Center in Hughes Springs.
April 18 Wildflower Trail Ride
The 27 Annual Wildflower Trail Ride will leave the Atlanta area on Monday Morning, camp at the American Legion Hall on Friday. Coggins are required. The parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Riders are welcome any and all days. For more information, contact Roger Westmoreland at 903-235-9778.
April 21-23 Wildflower Trails
Avinger and Hughes Springs will once again host Wildflower Trails the weekend on April 21 through 23. See upcoming editions of the Steel Country Bee for more information on the scheduled events.
April 23 Second Annual Tanner Allen Memorial Scholarship Football Tournament
The Allen family invites the public to participate in the Second Annual Tanner Allen Memorial Scholarship Football Tournament, to be held on April 23 at the Paul Pewitt Stadium. April 26 Candidate Meet and Greet
The Lone Star Chamber is sponsoring a Candidate Meet and Greet for candidates running for Lone Star City Council and Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD School Board. All candidates for those positions have been invited to this informal time for voters to get to know the candidates for each position. The Meet and Greet will happen at the Lone Star First United Methodist Church on Main Street, and will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
April 27 Region 8 Parent Conference
The Region 8 Education Service Center in Pittsburg will be hosting a parent conference entitled “Rooted in Service for Success.” Keynote speaker for the conference will be Tim Harris of “Tim’s Place.” The conference will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and lunch will be provided.
