Lady Tigers win in return of Mickey Mayne Relays

April 7 brought the return of the Mickey Mayne Relays to Mickey Mayne Tiger Stadium in Daingerfield.
“First of all let me say a big "thank you" to all the people who helped run this meet off. We could not have done it without of any of you. All in all I think the meet went very well. It was great to see the field/track covered with kids and the bleachers full with spectators,” said girls head track coach, Dana Carter.
The Varsity Girls Lady Tigers were the meet Champions with 190 points, and the JV Girl Lady Tigers were runner up with 64 points. Individual results for the girls are as follows.
McKenzie Scott was a large contributor the Lady Tigers JV squad. Scot placed first in the 100m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash, and the long jump. Jasmine House placed fourth in the 100m dash, and third in the 200m dash. Chyna Neal placed first in the 800m run, and Essence Chism placed fourth in the Shot Put. Mercedes Collins finished off the JV scoring by placing third in the discus competition.
For the varsity girls, Chablis Barber placed first, followed by Unique Walker in second in the 100m dash. Mims also placed first in the 200m dash, while Courtney Makepeace finished fifth in that event. Layla Johnston finished first in the 400m dash, and Elasia Alexander finished in sixth. Jakayla Neal finished third in the 800m run, and Amber Douglas finished sixth in the 1600m run. The 3200m run saw Lady Tigers finish in second, third, and fourth places. Yesenia Bravo was followed by Madison Cox and Jazmin Solis in that event.
In the 100m hurdles, Nekoda Coleman placed second, Ivy Banks placed third, and Jakia Neal finished fourth, while the 300m hurdles saw Banks, Neal, and Coleman place third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. The 400m relay team of Barber, Denver Mims, Alexis Porter, and Layla Johnston, placed first, and the relay team of Kahleyia Johnson, Porter, Mims, and Barber also finished first in the 800m relay. The team of Johnston, Johnson, Alexius Williams, and Porter finished the 1600m relay in second place.
In the field events, Denver Mims placed first in the long jump competition, while Tamerra Jackson placed second in the triple jump event. Unique Walker placed third in high jump, and Denibria Hall and Ivy Banks both competed in the pole vault. Hall placed fifth, and Banks finished in sixth.
Also competing for the Tigers were Claire Smith, Gekayla Alexander, Monorra Sok, and My’Asha Buford.
The ladies’ next meet will be District on Thursday, April 14, at Pewitt.
