The Daingerfield Varsity boys track team has qualified three individuals and two relays for the Regional Meet in Whitehouse on April 29 and 30. This was after beginning last week as the district runner up, but entering the Area meet as the District champions.

Following the district meet at Pewitt on April 14, the Tigers were edged out of the championship by Hughes Springs, who scored half a point more than the Daingerfield team. However, a discrepancy was noticed between the running results from the field, and the videotaped results. After recalculating and correcting the discrepancy, Daingerfield was named the first place team in District 16-AAA on Monday, April 18.

At the Area meet, the Tigers had Rickey Lee place first in the discus, with a throw of 141 feet, 2 inches. Keithon Walker placed second in the shot put, with a distance of 46 feet, 11 and a half inches. Both young men will advance to the Regional meet. Also advancing for the Tigers is DeAndre Daniel, who placed fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.02 seconds. The 400 meter relay team of Ty Wilkerson, Jakari Woods, Kadayous Betts, and Keiston Rushing placed second, securing a trip to the Regional meet. The 8 meter relay team of Keylon Fomby, Betts, Rushing, and Wilkerson also finished second at Area, and will compete in the Regional meet, as well.
