Lone Star City Secretary Devon Whatley announced at the regular meeting of the City Council April 21 that the city’s web site is up and running. Citizens of Lone Star can now use the internet to view City Council agendas and minutes, as well as get information about city departments and services, and the offices of the mayor and city council. The site also includes a calendar of upcoming community events and election information, as well as a method for paying outstanding tickets and warrants. The city’s URL is lonestartx.net.

In other council business, plans are under way for addressing the problem of hydrilla in Lone Star Lake, by means of a joint effort that involves the City of Lone Star, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and U.S. Steel, in addition to property owners with lake frontage on the Lone Star side of the lake. The area to be treated covers approximately forty acres. Work is scheduled to take place in early May.

Mayor Karl Stoermer proclaimed the month of May as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month, and presented the written proclamation to Iron Apostles Motorcycle Ministry Secretary-Treasurer David MacKay.
