Tigers qualify for State Track meet in Austin
The Daingerfield Lady Tigers are the Region 11- 3A team runner up, and have qualified two events for the State Track meet in Austin.
The 4x100m Relay finished in second place with a time of 48.13 seconds. That relay team consists of Chablis Barber, Denver Mims, Alexis Porter, Layla Johnston, Kahleyia Johnson, and Unique Walker. Denver Mims is the Region II-3A 200 meter champion with a time of 25.01 seconds. Mims also set a new Region II-3A stadium record. “I could not be more proud of these young ladies. It was a long weekend with all the weather delays, but they took it all in stride like true champions,” said head coach Dana Carter.
The other individual results are as follows. The 4x200m Relay of Johnson, Porter, Mims, and Barber placed third. The 100 meter dash had Chablis Barber finish third, and Unique Walker finish sixth. Layla Johnston placed third in the 400m Dash, while Meme Black placed tenth in the shotput and fourth in the discus. Unique Walker placed eleventh in the high jump.
The boys track team also had two qualifying events. Ricky Lee placed second in the discus. The 4x100 meter relay team of Ty’Jaylon Wilkerson, Kadayous Betts, Keylan Fomby Kieston Rushing, Jaukari Woods and De’Andre Daniel also placed second, and are Austin bound, as well.
