May 14 Church Rummage Sale

The Avinger United Methodist Church will have a rummage sale on May 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to donate to the sale, contact Becky Powell at 903-452-0871.

May 14 Community Theatre Auditions

CTET will be holding Auditions for “Don’t Stop Believin” May 14, 2016 at the Hughes Springs Auditorium. Auditions will begin at 11:00am and should last until 3:00pm. (Everyone is to be there before 11:00 am and all auditions will begin at 11:00. There will not be time slots per person.) Please be prepared to sing a vocal piece from this musical. May 22 Pastor Anniversary

Hughes Springs Community Church will host Celebration Services honoring Bishop Jessie and Frankie Biles’ first year anniversary. The celebration will be Sunday, May 22, at 3:00 P.M. Special guest speaker will be Pastor C.D. Mitchell of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Daingerfield.

May 24 Democratic Runoff Election

Morris County will hold a Democratic Primary Runoff Election on May 24. Early voting will be from May 16 to May 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.at the Morris County Courthouse. On May 24, Election Day, ballots will be accepted for all precincts except 303 at the Morris County Courthouse Annex Building from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Precinct 303 will cast their ballots at the Omaha City Hall Building, in Omaha. May 24 Republican Runoff Election

Morris County will hold a Republican Party Runoff election on May 24, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters from precincts 302 and 303 will vote at the Omaha City Hall. Voters in precincts 101,102,103, and 401 will vote at the courthouse annex. Republicans from precincts 202 and 203 will vote at the Lone Star Fire Department.

May 26 Speech Pathology Master’s Program Meetings

Region 8 Education Service Center will host a series of meetings about the Speech Pathology Master’s Program, which was designed to address the shortage of master’s level speech/language pathologists in Texas public schools. The program is a partnership with the Texas Education Agency and Texas Woman’s University. Awareness meetings will be held at Region 8 Education Service Center, 4845 U.S. Hwy. 271 N. in Pittsburgh, Texas on April 27 and May 26 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those interested can register by calling Deborah Biddy at 903-575-2756. All potential applicants must attend one of these meetings.
