Omaha's wine festival rescheduled for June 11, due to inclement weather
“Wine Through the Park 2016” has been rescheduled due to the inclement weather that took place last month. This year’s festival is presented by Stagecoach Trailers of Naples. The second annual event will be held June 11 in the Omaha City Park from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“Entrance to the festival is free,” Carabeth Luckey Johnston, event organizer and Omaha City Park Board member, said. “This is an outdoor event where visitors can stroll our beautiful park and visit our many select vendors. Admission to the wine garden is $5, where the best Texas wineries will be featured. Wine will be sold by the taste, glass and bottle. The admission fee includes a souvenir wine glass and wine tote, as well as an entry ticket for door prizes.
Several Texas wineries will participate in the festival. David Rossignol, Executive Chef at the Country Club of Mt. Pleasant, will conduct cooking demonstrations on stage, using Texas Gulf Coast shrimp and Texas wines, beginning at 1:15 p.m.
The festival will also feature a great line-up of entertainment and vendors. Lady Chazz & the Tramps will return to this year’s festival by popular demand. Lady Chazz is a great act that brings you the best of Motown, R&B and Contemporary Pop Music from the 50’s to the present. The group delivers a first class show that is highly entertaining and filled with audience participation. Lady Chazz & The Tramps will be on stage from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Kicking off the festival will be “Offering”, a praise band out of Cass County. This is the same band that performed during Christmas in the Park. Taking the stage at 3 p.m. is Phoebe Rose from Texarkana, a singer/songwriter with an interesting indie pop vibe. Her latest CD, “Spontaneous Decisive Movement” will be for sale at her booth at the festival. Deborah Brasket will close out the festival from 6:00 to 7:00 with her bluesy rock sound.
Wine Through the Park is presented by Stagecoach Trailers, in conjunction with the Omaha City Parks Board. This is a charitable event set up to raise funds for playground equipment for the park,” Mrs. Johnston said. The park board has not been able to obtain any grant money for the playground equipment; so, the park needs and appreciates its sponsors. “We have a bid of $60,000.00 for the playground equipment”, according to Mrs. Johnston. “We are getting closer to our goal; but, we still have work to do to raise the total amount needed”. Sponsors for the event include Go Texan, Longview Bridge and Road, Forrest Signs and Graphics, Luckey Law Firm, The Naples Monitor, Omaha Economic Development Corporation, North East Texas Credit Union, Mt. Pleasant Cinema 6, Clemens Insurance, Tri- County Press, Sara French, Hawkeye Consulting, LLC, Complete Septic Service, Seaton Construction, Smith Wastewater Systems, Hightower Movers, Linda Sibley’s Pampered Chef, Decker Eye Group, Vicki and Mike Leroy, and Jan and Tim Forrest. “This fundraiser would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors,” according to Mrs. Johnston.
Vendor spaces are 10x10 each. Each space rents for $35 without electricity and for $40 with electricity. Food trailer spaces are $50 and include electricity. For more information contact Carabeth Luckey Johnston at (903) 563-9230.
