The Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD met in their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on May 16. With all incumbents being re-elected, the board voted to keep the same officers as they had this year.

Prior to calling the meeting to order, Superintendent Sandra Quarles introduced the Girl’s 3A State Champion 400 meter Relay Team to the board. The team, along with their coach, Dana Carter, had returned on Saturday, May 14, from the State Track Meet in Austin. Where the team barely missed setting a new school record in the 400 meter Relay. The team, consisting of Layla Johnston, Denver Mims, Alexis Porter, and Chablis Barber, showed off their gold medals while Coach Carter displayed the Championship plaque. The board acknowledged the girls accomplishment, and congratulated Coach Carter on becoming a State track champion as a coach after having previously won a championship as an athlete.

After calling the meeting to order, the board received a motion and second to keep the same officers, which passed. The board quickly moved through other agenda items, hearing a report from the Student Health Advisory Council chairperson, Martha Baker, as well as clinic reports from Torrie Wright.

The building will be removed during the summer months, and the only stipulation on the donation is that is will not be sold to a competing motor bank. The board also discussed thinning of 38 acres of pine timber on the school farm.
