April and May busy months for Daingerfield Police Department
On April 3, Officer Brandon Fulcher attempts to stop a vehicle for traffic violation. The person fails to stop for short period and finally does. Officer Fulcher detained the driver, Lori Sharpe, 38 year old from Daingerfield. Search was conducted and suspected methamphetamines were located inside the vehicle. Sharpe was arrested and booked for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram State Jail Felony, Evading Arrest Detention with a vehicle State Jail Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Class C Misdemeanor.
On April 7, Officer Payden Cannaday and Chief of Police Tracey Climer served an outstanding Burglary of Habitation warrant on Medessa Ragsdale, 40 year old from Daingerfield. This warrant was from a recent burglary report that Sergeant Susan Laake investigated getting probable cause to file for a warrant for Ragsdale. Sergeant Laake recovered the stolen property. On April 24, Officer Brandon Fulcher stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The driver, Justin Stambaugh, 24 year old from Daingerfield, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia which led to locating suspected m e t h a m p h e t a m i n e s . Stambaugh was arrested and booked for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram in a drug free zone Felony 3rd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Class C Misdemeanor.
On April 28, Officer Payden Cannaday was called to local business in regards to customer who fell asleep and they wanted a welfare check on the person. Officer Cannaday made contact with the person, Kimberly Dooley, 48 year old from Hughes Springs. It was quickly determined that Dooley was intoxicated and had suspected methamphetamines, marijuana, and numerous pills and drug paraphernalia. Dooley was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram State Jail Felony, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 and 4 less than 28 grams Class A Misdemeanors, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Class C Misdemeanor.
On May 5, Sergeant Susan Laake and Chief of Police Tracey Climer arrested Dennis Putman, 51 year old from Daingerfield, on outstanding warrant from a previous call in Daingerfield. Putman was booked for warrants which included Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram State Jail Felony, Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Assault Family Violence Class A Misdemeanor.
On May 10, Officer Brandon Fulcher stopped a vehicle for traffic violation and during contact smelled odor of marijuana from the vehicle. The driver, Melvin Townsend, 54 year old from Pittsburg, was arrested after search revealed he had suspected marijuana and cocaine. Townsend was arrested and booked for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram in a drug free zone Felony 3rd Degree, Possession of Marijuana under two ounces in a drug free zone Class A Misdemeanor, and Open Container Class C.
On May 11, Sergeant Susan Laake obtained a call in regards to a vehicle running off the roadway on a city street, causing damage to property to mail boxes. Upon arrival, Sgt. Laake identified the driver of the vehicle as being Michael Epps, 59 year old from Daingerfield. Epps was wanted for outstanding local warrants. During the arrest, Epps resisted and it was determined he was in possession of narcotics. Epps was arrested and booked for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 less than 28 grams Class A Misdemeanor, Resisting Arrest/Detention Class A, and local warrants for Class C violations.
On May 21, Officer Brandon Fulcher stopped a vehicle after being notified of a drunk driver. The driver, Albert Staner 43, year old from San Antonio, was stopped. It was determined that Staner was intoxicated and he was arrested. Search of the vehicle revealed Staner in possession of a firearm. Staner was arrested and booked for Driving While Intoxicated third or more, Felony third degree, Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Open Container.
On May 24, Sergeant Susan Laake and Chief of Police Tracey Climer obtained information that a residence was recently burglarized and the stolen property was at another residence. A search warrant was obtained and during the execution of the warrant, Michael Nelson, 42 year old from Daingerfield, was found to be in possession of the stolen items along with marijuana. Also, Laquitta Hattenfludd, 43 year old from Lone Star, was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamines. Nelson was arrested and booked for Burglary of Habitation Felony 2nd Degree and Possession of Marijuana under two ounces Class B Misdemeanor. Hattenfludd was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram State Jail Felony.
In a statement from Chief Tracey Climer, “During April and May, this department has served approximately 26 arrest Class C. Not including the above mentioned cases, this department made arrest or closed out cases for approximately four thefts, three criminal mischiefs, two forgeries, three public intoxications, one possession of marijuana, another evading detention with vehicle, and one aggravated assault case.”
