Lady Tiger stars recognized
Winning a state champion is usually the pinnacle for any high school athlete. Several Daingerfield Tiger Lady Track members have continued bringing home recognitions following their state championship in the 4X100 relay.
The Texas Girls Coaches Association named Chablis Barber and Alexis Porter to the All-Academic State Track Team for the 2016 track season for 3A. Requirements for the honor were the athletes had to be a senior and a grade point average of 94 or above. The TGCA also recognized Denver Mims as the Track All-Star for 3A. Coach Dana Carter is extremely proud of these ladies.
Denver Mims has been busy this summer participating in summer track, running for an AAU team out of Houston. Recently, she qualified for the Jr. National Championships in the 200m dash and the 4x100m relay that were held in Orlando, Florida July 11 through 15. Denver advanced to the semifinal round in the 200m dash where she finished fourteenth in of the nation. Her relay team finished 2nd overall.
Denver also qualified for the Junior Olympics that will be held August 1 through 6 in Humble. Denver will compete in the 100m dash and 4x100m relay. “We are so very proud of her. Way to go Denver,” said Coach Carter.
