The Marion County Sheriff ’s Office arrested two area school teachers and their daughter on Aug. 22. Tim K. Davis, 42, his wife, Amber E. Davis, 37, and their daughter, Drew A. Davis, 17, were all arrested for Burglary of a Habitation, which is a second degree felony. All three subjects are charged with entering a home on Reeves Lane, north of Jefferson, and removing numerous items without the owner’s permission. According to Marion County Sheriff David McKnight, it is possible that the burglary actually occurred over a period of time. It appears, McKnight said, that the suspects may have entered the house more than once and removed “several loads” of property.
The home was owned by Patti Ann Henderson, widow of Buddy “Bugs” Henderson, a successful musician who died in 2012. Bugs Henderson was, according to Blues News, “the prototype of the brutal Texan guitarist who takes no prisoners.” Henderson played with such internationally-recognized names as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton and B.B. King. He released well over 15 albums in his 35- plus-year career, most of which were with his group the Shuffle Kings. Among the stolen items were musical instruments, amplifiers, speakers, books, photographs, and personal documents. The suspects’ home was searched following their arrest, and many of the stolen items were recovered. Efforts are underway to locate and recover more missing items.
Both Tim and Amber Davis are employed by the Avinger Independent School District as a coach and teacher, respectively. The pair were arrested at the school, and administration was cooperative with deputies. In an effort to make the arrests out of the presence of any students, the parents were called out of their classrooms to the administration office, and were not handcuffed in the school. Drew Davis, who is a student at the same school, was actually arrested the following day at the Marion County Sheriff’s office. All three suspects have been arraigned, pled “not guilty”, and have posted bail.
According to McKnight, the investigation “is ongoing.” When asked to elaborate, he would say only that there is a possibility there will be more arrests in the case.
