Tiger Cross Country teams fare well in Union Grove
The Daingerfield Tigers fielded four teams in the union Grove Cross Country Meet on Saturday, Aug. 27. The two girls’ teams and two boys’ teams saw several members place, and each team placed in the top 20.
The top two finishers for the Varsity Lady Tigers were Layla Johnston, who placed 33rd, and Yesenia Bravo, who placed 58th. Also running were Jakayla Neal, placing 66th, Madison Cox, placing 71st, Claire Smith, placing 76th and Jazmin Solis, placing 108th. There were 159 runners in this race alone. As a team the Lady Tigers placed 11th out of 22. This division was made up of 1A-4A.
The JV Girls division saw Chyna Neal, who placed 47th and Claudia Lopez, who placed 50th as the top two Tiger finishers. Also running were Elasia Alexander, placing 57th, Amber Douglas, placing 60th, Gekayla Alexander, placing 61st, and Demontisia Hendrix, placing 70th. As a team these ladies finished 11th. There were 134 runners in this division. This division was made up of 1A-6A.
The top three finishers for the Tigers in the Varsity Boys Division were Juan Olguin, who placed 25th, Timmyon Bronner, who placed 47th, and Nathaniel Dancer, who placed 114th. Also running were Moises Alejo, placing 115th, Nicholas Ferguson, placing 117th, David Perez, placing 122nd, Alexis Deleon, placing 123rd and Jordan Whelchel, placing 125th. As a team the Tigers placed 18th. There were 150 runners in this division that was made up of 1A-4A.
The top three finishers for the JV Boys were Deandre Jimmerson, who placed 87th, Ryan Lewis, who placed 99th and Joseph Moss, who placed 101st. Also running were Justin Bailey, placing 102nd, Jansen Laney, placing 103rd, Travarius Jimmerson, placing 105th and Keith Bryson, placing 108th. As a team these young men placed 17th. There were 195 runners in this division made up of 1A-6A.
Their next meet will be Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Backwoods Gallop hosted by East Texas Charter School on the campus of Letourneau University in Longview. The junior boys/girls will be running along with the high school in this meet.
