JV Lady Tigers participate in Lady Brahma Tournament

Two Junior Varsity teams from Daingerfield High School participated in the Lady Brahma Junior Varsity Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 17.

In the Junior Varsity Gray Division, the Lady Tigers took home the Third Place trophy. They were 2– 1 for the day with a victory over Linden-Kildare 25-10, 25-13 in their first match. They then lost a tough match to New Boston 26- 24, 25-18. Their last match was for 3rd place, in which they defeated Atlanta 13- 25, 25-20, 25-19. For the day, Jahkayla Doddy had 17 points, eight assists, and four digs; Montrevia Durham had 25 points, four aces, three digs, and three kills; Tanacia Williams had 12 points, five aces, and two kills. Mikayla Roberson added 21 points, three aces, four assists, and two kills; Kiara Robinson had 10 points, three aces, two blocks, and three kills; Jamie Nix had eight points, three aces, and two kills. Other members of the freshmen Lady Tigers are Kesha Robinson, Asaiya Alexander, Montoya Taylor, Tori Bennett, and Kiana McCuin. The Daingerfield Freshmen team is coached by Crystal Mills.

In the Junior Varsity Blue Division, the Junior Varsity lost their first match to New Boston 25-10, 25-16. In the next match they defeated Linden-Kildare 25-20, 25-13. Next up was Redwater in the C o n s o l a t i o n Championship match and the Lady Tigers fell short 25-17, 25-11. For the day Coutlan Peppers had 18 points, four aces, 10 assists, three digs and two kills; Claire Smith had 14 points, two aces, and 10 digs; Lemerica Alexander had 12 points, three aces, two blocks, three digs, and four kills; Ivy Banks had 15 points, nine aces, and three digs; Jakayla Neal had six points, one ace, two digs, and one kill. Elasia Alexander added two kills and one assist; Demarkia Palmer had two blocks and two kills; Makayla Robinson had four points, two aces, two kills, and three assists; and Amber Douglas had one assist and one kill. The Lady Tigers finished 1-2 for the day.

The JV Tigers will visit Hooks on Sept. 20, and then welcome DeKalb to Jesse Hanson Gymnasium on Sept.27. The freshman will begin at 4:30 p.m.
