Daingerfield Cross country continues to improve

The Daingerfield Tigers had two runners finish in the top ten of their categories at the McLeod Invitational Cross Country Meet on Thursday, Sept. 22. All six Tiger times showed improvement from their runners.

In the junior high girls division, the top three finishers for the Lady Tigers were Breana Williams placing 39th, Laura Carter placing 40th and Arabella Vasquez placing 60th. Also running were Saanaa Fields placing 61st, Sasha Neal placing 63rd, Jasmine Mendez placing 67th, Journei Ferguson placing 73rd, Karley Nix placing 74th, Kelbi Byrd placing 76th, Genesis Allen placing 81st, Haley Lewis placing 85th, Diamond Jeter 97th, Sydney Key 99th, Joi Akinsuroju placing 100th, Ashlyn Bruce placing 101st, Alayah Alexander placing 104th, Za’mya Wilbarger placing 106th, Jennifer Trevino placing 108th, Julissa Chavez placing 110th, Ariana Lewis placing 112th, Maryah Peters placing 113th, and Jaaliyah Wilson placing 114th. As a team these young ladies placed 8th.

In the junior high boys division, the top finisher for the Tigers was Austin Terry, placing 61st. Also running were Dylan Baxter placing 64th, Sonny Wu placing 77th and Jaylon Evans placing 98th.

The Junior Varsity girls finished first as a team in their division. The top three finishers for the Lady Tigers were Elasia Alexander placing 2nd, Chyna Neal placing 3rd and Demontisia Hendrix placing 5th. Also running were Gekayla Alexander placing 6th, Amber Douglas placing 7th, Claudia Lopez placing 10th, Jakia Neal placing 15th and Aiana Alexander placing 22nd. Those finishing in the top ten received medals for their performances.

In the Junior Varsity boys division, the top three finishers for the Tigers were Tre Allen placing 4th, Angelo Vasquez placing 33rd and Jordan Whelchel placing 36th. Tre Allen received a medal for his top ten finish. Also running were Joseph Moss placing 37th, Justin Bailey placing 38th, Isaac Taylor placing 39th, Travarious Jimmerson placing 42nd, Keith Bryson placing 43rd, Jansen Laney placing 45th and Jason Vaughn placing 46th. As a team these young men placed 4th.

In the Varsity girls division, the top three finishers for the Lady Tigers were Layla Johnston placing 5th, Yesenia Bravo placing 26th, and Madison Cox placing 27th. Layla received a medal for her top ten finish! Also running were Jakayla Neal placing 38th, Claire Smith placing 42nd and Jazmin Solis placing 52nd. As a team these young ladies placed 6th. Their times were much improved.

In the Varsity boys division, the top three finishers for the Tigers were Timmyon Broner placing 6th, Alexi Deleon placing 30th, and Nathaniel Dancer placing 32nd. Timmyon received a medal for his top ten performance. Also running were Juan Olguin placing 33rd, Nicholas Ferguson placing 35th and Deandre Jimmerson placing 38th. As a team these young men placed 5th.

The teams’ next meet will be Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Titus County Fair Invitational held at Mount Pleasant High School.
