Pamela Spann from Daingerfield, has received a Lucile Cornetet Individual Professional Development Award from The Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation. She is a Pre-K teacher at West Elementary. This award will enable Spann to attend the “I Teach Pre-K! Conference.” “This award will allow me to receive information which will improve my work in the classroom. As an early childhood teacher, I find this very important,” Spann said. Jane D. Tanner, Educational Foundation Board of Trustees Chair, stated that “The Foundation awards approximately $60,000 annually to outstanding educators to enable them to attend professional activities in their respective fields.”

A bequest to The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International from the Lucile Cornetet estate was the basis for establishing the Lucile Cornetet Professional Development Fund in 2005. Miss Cornetet, a long-time educator and Society member from Ohio, died in 2001.

The Educational Foundation supports and encourages intercultural understanding and educational excellence. Established in 1964, the Foundation is a non-profit organization located in The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Headquarters in Austin, Texas.
