FISCHER

Born in Langeloth, PA. on April 10 1928, the eighth of nine children and the last surviving sibling born to Thomas Henry and Elizabeth Grace Walker Fischer, John Richard Fischer served two tours of service in the United States Army before settling to live in the Western Pennsylvania area consisting of Cherry Valley, Hickory and Southview. John and his family, with the exception of his daughter, eventually relocated to East Texas in the early 1980s, where they have resided since.

John died Nov. 14, while surrounded by his family at his home in Lone Star. At the age of 88, John still had enjoyed working in his yard when he was not running errands or relaxing on his front porch swing. He and his wife Verdie often spent Saturdays shopping garage sales, and evenings simply sitting together watching TV, holding hands , and enjoying each other’s company.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verdie; 3 sons, John Jr. of Naples, Charles of Bryan, and Raymond of North Richland Hills; one daughter, Barbara Ganley of Eagle Rock, VA; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. at Church on the Rock in Daingerfield.
