Two men are wanted in connection with a money scam at the Hughes Springs Spring Market store, according to Hughes Springs Police Chief Randy Kennedy.

In a statement, Chief Kennedy detailed the actions of the two men: “On 11/18/2016, these two individuals entered the Spring Market in Hughes Springs and pulled a money scam on the checkout clerk and were able to get away with several hundred dollars. One would put merchandise on the counter and give the clerk a large bill and as the clerk was making change the individual would then put a smaller item on the counter and give the clerk another large bill and then would distract the clerk. He then reached into the money drawer and pulled out a large bill from the cash register and placed it with the change that the clerk had given back to him causing confusion on the clerk’s part as to how much money to give back as change. The other one would also talk to the clerk in order to distract her attention. They have also done this at the Spring Market in Lone Star. Any information on their identities can be given to the Hughes Springs Police Department at 903-639- 2621 or the Morris County Sheriff ’s Office at 903-645-2232.”
