Lady Tigers compete in Big Sandy Tournament

The junior varsity Lady Tigers’ basketball team traveled to the Big Sandy JV Tournament, which was held on Thursday, Dec. 1 through Dec. 3.

In the first day of the three-day tournament, the Lady Tigers faced off with Waskom, losing by double digits, 36-20. Leading the way for Daingerfield was Jamie Nix with ten points, followed by TaQuasia Latchison and Gekayla Alexander, who had four points each. Elasia Alexander rounded out Daingerfield’s scoring with two points.

The Tigers returned to action on Friday, Dec. 2 in the consolation round, where they faced the Sabine Lady Cardinals. The Lady Tigers mustered little offense against the Lady Cardinals, losing by nine points, 23-14. Nix again led the way for the Tigers, this time scoring six points. TaQuasia Latchison added five points, while Jahkayla Doddy added two points for the Tigers. Tori Bennett added a point for the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers JV team was joined by the Varsity squad as they travelled to Liberty-Eylau on Dec. 6. The varsity will compete in the Brownsboro tournament on Dec. 8, 9, and 10.

The Lady Tigers’ next home game will be Dec. 13, against district opponent New Boston.
