Daingerfield falls short in Mount Vernon, 44-57
The Daingerfield Tigers basketball team traveled to Mount Vernon on Dec. 6 to take on the Purple Tigers. Daingerfield fell, 44-57 in the non-district matchup.
After coming out strong in the first quarter and outscoring the home team by 4, Daingerfield’s offense falter in the second quarter, leaving the two teams tied at 28 as they went into the locker room.
The third quarter saw the Daingerfield squad outscored by 14, and built a deficit they could not erase. The Tigers did score double digits in the fourth quarter, but the earlier deficit proved to be too much.
The Tigers competed in the New Boston Tournament Dec. 8-10, and then traveled to Chapel Hill on Dec. 13. The Tigers' next home game will be a district matchup against DeKalb on Jan. 3. Games will begin at 5 p.m., with junior varsity girls and boys squads, followed by varsity girls and varsity boys.
