Operation "Officer Blessing"

In a year that has seen police officers ambushed and killed simply for the uniform they wear, local churches came together to offer gifts of gratitude to area law enforcement officers. In this season of giving, law enforcement officers were given gift cards as a show of thanks for the work they do.

The idea to bless all the area law enforcement officers with a gift card began with Pastor Chad Thompson of South Union Baptist Church, explained Pastor Randy Seybert, President of the Tri-Cities Ministerial Alliance. According to Bro. Randy, Bro. Chad shared his church’s idea with the local Ministerial Alliance and everyone jumped on board. Participating churches included South Union Baptist, Church on the Rock, Fellowship Baptist, Lone Star Baptist and Life Church.

“Our desire was to express our thanks and appreciation to the officers in a tangible way. They sacrifice and do so much to serve their communities as they put their lives on the line each and every day. The $50 gift cards to Don Juan’s Restaurants is one way the citizens can let them know that we support and appreciate them very much”, explained Bro. Randy.

Using the offerings collected at the churches, gifts cards were purchased and presented to the police officers in Daingerfield, Lone Star, Hughes Springs, Omaha and Naples. Cards were also distributed to the local DPS officers, the Game Warden, the School Officer, the ATF Officer, the Texas Ranger, and the County Sheriff & Deputies serving the area. “Our churches are excited about working together in the coming year and being a blessing to our communities,” concluded Pastor Randy.
