HS voters will decide on alcohol issue, board seat

HUGHES SPRINGS -- Residents will go the polls May 6 to cast their vote on an important municipal issue. They will vote on a petition to legalize the sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption in the city.
Voters will not, however, be casting ballots for city council positions.
Mayor Reba Simpson decided not to seek re-election and council member James Samples filed as a candidate for mayor. Kirk Bradley is running to fill Samples’ vacant seat and council incumbent Jeremy Ale-Ebrahim is running unopposed.
