This police hate mentality must stop

A Patriot's Opinion

Every time I see or hear another news story of a police officer being shot it makes my blood boil. Lately, it seems to be happening on a weekly basis where we hear of another law enforcement officer being shot or killed. Why is this happening? We have got to get a grip on the cause of this epidemic and put a stop to it.
I think a lot of the blame for this hateful behavior is due to the moral and ethical decline of our society in the last three decades. I remember growing up in the 50's and 60's when policemen were respected. Every kid back then wanted to grow up to be a policeman or fireman because we thought that was a cool job to have.
The rule of law used to mean something in America. Years ago we were raised to believe that bad or illegal behavior had consequences. Nowadays that premise seems to be going by the wayside. Now we have crybaby whiner snowflakes running around destroying other people’s property simply because they don't get their way. Like it or not having law enforcement agencies is an essential part of a civilized society. I'm sure no one would want to return to the old Wild West days. Sadly another part of the police hate mentality has to do with celebrities and politicians making stupid statements when it comes to law enforcement. Just last week so called comedian George Lopez said that Trump should deport the police in order to make America safer. Really, George? Apparently, George had a run in or two with police before he became famous. Of course, we can all remember when former President Obama made the comment that the Cambridge police acted “stupidly” when they arrested a college professor friend of his in Chicago. Of course, he never bothered to look at the facts of the case before opening his pie hole. The police, in that case, were responding to a report of a possible burglary. In other words, they were doing their job. And professor Gates was uncooperative because he thought he was privileged. Of course what kind of example are we setting for our young people when you have politicians like Hillary Clinton who basically broke the law at will? She thought she was above the law and nothing is ever done to her because she is considered to be too big to go to jail. Of course, the rest of us don't have that luxury, we have to follow the law.
Police have a tough job. They are paid to protect and serve the public. Many times that involves protecting and serving those who hate their very existence. But they do it because that’s what the job entails. While others run away from danger they are the ones who run towards it. I have many friends in law enforcement that I have known for decades. They put that uniform on every day to serve you and me. But these days they are walking into a war zone in many cities around this country. And government officials in those cities are making their jobs more dangerous due to their anti police policies.
The best example I can think of was the riots in Baltimore after the Freddie Gray incident. The mayor basically told police not to confront protesters or try to stop the rioting but rather to allow them space to destroy things. That is only one example of the issues that make our law enforcement officers jobs so difficult. And don't get me started on Mayor Bill DeBlasio from New York. He recently had one of his officers executed in her patrol car and rather than do his job and support his police officers he jetted off to be part of the protests at the recent G-20 Summit. And he wonders why his officers turn their backs to him when he does show up at events.
Despite what many politicians, celebrities and other under rock dwellers think or say, our police, sheriff’s deputies, highway patrol, and all other law enforcement officers are doing a darn good job.
