Diligence helps find missing woman
DAINGERFIELD – Thanks to the diligence of close friends, a Daingerfield
woman is home safe, after going missing for several hours.
Setsuko Lee lives in Daingerfield with her son, who has been diagnosed
with Asperger’s Syndrome, and a renter. Although her son is
her only family, Lee has developed a large network of close friends.
At approximately 9 a.m. July 18, Lee left her home in Daingerfield
to take a friend 142 miles, one-way, to Dallas-Love Field Airport. As
Lee was accustomed to offering rides to those who needed them,
this raised no concern for her friends. After dropping the friend off,
Lee called her son, Johnny, around 11:30 a.m. to inform him she was
leaving the airport. By that evening, Lee had not returned home.
Around 2 a.m. July 19, Lee called again,
saying she was lost. She also reported seeing
signs that stated she was eight miles from
Wichita Falls. The renter gave her directions
to return to Daingerfield from Wichita Falls,
which should have taken her just a few hours.
Despite her renter’s directions, Lee still was
unable to find her way home.
Lee and her son are members of a gym in
Mount Pleasant, where they had made several
friends, including Tracy Flores. Flores
had grown accustomed to seeing Lee and
her son on an almost daily basis. So when
they did not show up to the gym a couple of
days in a row, Flores became concerned.
“I started to miss her and called her house
phone,” Flores said. “Johnny answers and
doesn’t know where she’s at. They haven’t
heard from her.” Flores contacted two others
she knew in Lee’s network of friends,
Stormey Perritt and Jeannette Treadway,
who lives in Groesbeck.
