DAINGERFIELD – The Daingerfield Alumni Association will once again honor distinguished alumni at a dinner to be held Sept. 30 at the Daingerfield High School Cafeteria.

Each year, the association accepts nominations for their Distinguished Alumni honors. The nominations come from friends or family members. This year’s honorees include: Dr. Joe Childress, DHS Class of 1961; Dr. David Fitts, DHS Class of 1987; and Dr. Lee Guice, DHS Class of 1966. Dr. Ron Cowan, DHS Class of 1962, will be honored posthumously by the Association.

The public is invited to the dinner, which will begin at 6 p.m. There will be a silent auction at the dinner, as well.

Tickets for the dinner are $30 each, and include a steak dinner with all the trimmings. Tickets are available at Texas Heritage National Bank, North East Texas Credit Union, and at the Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD Administration Building.

The Alumni Dinner serves as a major fundraiser for the Association and helps fund grants for teachers as well as providing a scholarship for a graduating Daingerfield High School senior.

The Alumni Association is also making plans for their annual All School Reunion, which will once again be held the weekend of Daingerfield Days, Oct. 14. The event will again be at the Morris County Courthouse Annex from 1-4 p.m.

This event gives alumni to meet with classmates. Those attending the All School Reunion are encouraged to register for the Alumni Association during the event.
