Ronald Delano “R.D.”
DAINGERFIELD -- Ronald Delano “R.D.” Sisk of Chesapeake, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 25. Ronnie was born on Nov. 23, 1956 to Frank and Annie Sisk of Daingerfield, Texas. His music career spanned over 42 years. He worked as an electrician, musician, and sound engineer throughout the Virginia Beach region.
Ronnie had a passion for music from an early age. He played guitar and started his first band in high school, using his parent’s garage as his first recording studio. Ronnie graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1971, and moved to Dallas to attend a technical college. After completing one year, he went home to break the news to his parents that he wanted to pursue his dream of having his own rock band. He then bought an old school bus and converted it into a tour bus and planned his move to Virginia Beach to begin his musical career. Although his parents were in a state of shock for a while, they supported their son and his dream throughout his life-long music career and did everything they could to champion his passion.
Ronnie is survived by his parents, Frank and Anne Sisk of Daingerfield, and his sister, Pennye Sisk of Nashville, Tenn., as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Ronnie was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He relished in family gatherings and loved to play cards, dominos and wahoo. He also never missed an opportunity to share a new joke.
Ronnie cherished his extended family of friends in Virginia Beach with whom he had the privilege of working alongside for the last 31 years. R.D. was well-known throughout the music industry as one of the best sound engineers in the business. Special thanks to his dear friends, Donald Quisenberry, Greg Neal, Tenna Basnight, Barry Basnight, Rickey Harrell and all of his friends at the Ferguson Center for all of their love and support of Ronnie and his family.
Special thanks to Oman Funeral Home and Crematory of Chesapeake, Virginia. Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church for hosting the memorial service in Virginia Beach.
Ronnie’s friends and family will gathered for a memorial service Sept.7 in Daingerfield, at the Nail-Haggard Funeral Home with Bro. Chad Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association.
