Veterans honored throughout the area

Between flags placed at churches, business, and cemeteries and those waved by children at school programs, patriotism was in full view as people from all over the area took time last week and over the weekend to honor all veterans. Since the Veteran’s Day holiday fell on a Saturday, schools and many area businesses honored veterans during the week leading up to Nov. 11.

Hughes Springs schools held their veteran’s day program on Nov. 9, and featured students from all schools. The students offered up songs, recitations, and a simple skit to show their appreciation for all veterans, particularly for those in attendance. At its conclusion, students from the Hughes Springs High School band offered taps on trumpet in recognition of those veterans who have paid the final price.
