HS Chamber honors community members at banquet
By TONI WALKER
HUGHES SPRINGS – It is said that “all the world is a stage.” On Jan. 27, the Hughes Springs Chamber of Commerce took time to honor those who have shown bright on their particular “stages” with the annual Crystal Globe Awards banquet.
Chamber president Jeannie Adams welcomed honorees, dignitaries, and guests to the banquet before welcoming Mandy Gammill and Matt Nichols to the stage to perform a skit. Gammill, founder of Community Theatre of East Texas, joined Nichols, CTET President, on stage to entertain guests with a skit entitled “Mother and Son.” Following the skit, Nichols prepared the guests for the evening’s meal, which consisted of salad, grilled pork chop, beans, and roasted potatoes. Tammy and Marshall Mashaw, of Taste This Catering, provided the meal, while students from the Hughes Springs High School Student Council served as wait staff for the evening. Following the meal, it was time for the awards presentations to begin.
